India Day Celebration/Indianapolis, IN

On Sunday, August 12th The Rhema Project was the premier sponsor for Indianapolis’ India Day Celebration. Nearly 800 people celebrated India’s independence day (Americans think 4th of July) at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis.

Our goal is to encourage Indian families living in the states to join with us on the mission to end female gendercide in their home country. Many are 2nd and 3rd generation families living in America.

These are two of my favorite photos taken during the event. The first of a young Indian girl thanking our volunteers for the Indian doll handcrafted by Indian women rescued from the streets of Chennai by one of our partner organizations.

“She looks like me!”

The second photo is of a young Indian women that stopped by our booth to learn more about The Rhema Project and our mission to end female gendercide in her home country. When every Indian women has the opportunity and hope for a better tomorrow we will have been successful.

Gatherings!

This fall we are launching “Gatherings!” The goal is for Friends of Rhema to invite their close group of friends to a gathering – it can be a wine & cheese tasting party, a coffee and cookies get together or Sunday brunch.

At the end of the event, a group of friends will have had a great time and learned more about The Rhema Project and its mission to end the killing of baby girls in India. Each person will leave with the knowledge that they too can have a direct and meaningful impact.

If you are interested in hosting or attending one of these events, let us know and we will get you on the schedule.

Thanks! – Love Without Borders

Earlier this month Love Without Borders (A group of Indians living in North America) held their annual event in Toronto, Canada. Maria Dubier and her dedicated team did an outstanding job organizing this fun-filled event all the while raising money for The Rhema Project.

100% of the proceeds will go to help educate and equip Indian girls in South India in the hope of someday they too will be organizing and holding an event to bring life, value and opportunity to their less fortunate sisters.

Thanks again Love without Borders!

Friday night Vanakkam! and the Ricki Lake Effect bands played at The Legends of Notre Dame. Both bands donated their time so that all proceeds would go to care, educate and empower girls in southern India.

Today, we can do more because of the friends that came and listened to great music, played some games and hear part of the story. Seven more girls can now be cared for for an entire year because of the small effort on Friday night.

Thanks Vanakkam! and Ricki Lake Effect.
